LAB3221
KAP:LAM LC
Collect
One 5.0 mL Red top or Gold top with gel (SST), clot activator serum.
Pediatric Collection
Minimum volume: 0.5 mL serum.
Unacceptable Conditions
Any plasma sample; gross lipemia or hemolysis; sample not properly identified; incorrect container; insufficient sample volume.
Storage/Transport Temperature
Internal: Allow to clot for 30 minutes, then deliver to lab immediately at ambient temperature.
Offsite: Allow blood to clot for 30 minutes prior to centrifugation. Centrifuge within 1 hour of collection. Transport to laboratory at 2-8 degrees C.
Stability (from collection to initiation)
Before centrifugation: Ambient, 1 hour.
After centrifugation: Ambient: 1 hour; Refrigerated: 24 hours; Frozen : Unacceptable.
Serum aliquot: Ambient, 1 hour; Refrigerated, 21 days; Frozen (-20 degrees C): 3 months.
Performed by
PCL Clinical Laboratory - Special Chemistry
Notes
Due to the half-life of the protein in the system, any Kappa:Lambda order that is placed within 20 hours of the previous Kappa:Lambda level will be considered a duplicate order and will be cancelled.
Performed
Monday and Thursday
Methodology
Nephelometry
Reported
Same day
Synonyms
- LAB3221
